INTRODUCTION OF SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY:

Abdominal Etching or Ab Etching surgery commonly called as Six packs Surgery is a form of liposculpting that removes excess fat between the abdominal muscles, creating indentations that resemble those seen on a six-pack or washboard stomach. With ab etching, your stomach can appear tighter, firmer and more muscular.

Abdominal Etching is a form of liposculpture (liposuction) and is only done when the ideal patient seeks a chiseled appearance. Some patients have previously undergone tummy tuck or liposuction surgery. Your plastic surgeon will decide if you are an ideal candidate for this form of liposculpture or if you need to undergo another body contouring procedure first. Those who are already athletic and have a pronounced muscular structure benefit the most from abdominal etching. Ideal candidates follow a proper diet and exercise program to maintain their chiseled appearance after the procedure has been completed.

Performed in a plastic surgeon’s office or an out-patient facility, the abdominal etching procedure typically lasts for a full hour, but the total time will vary with the amount of sculpting required. Your plastic surgeon will remove exercise-resistant fat deposits via small incisions of one-two mm in the belly button or in your abdomen’s natural creases. These locations hide the incisions but allow your plastic surgeon to reveal your hidden “six pack.” By removing a small amount of fat, your individual muscular structure will be highlighted and should show excellent definition.

SIX-PACK ABS ARE NOW ACHIEVABLE FOR YOU!

Many men strive for those ever-desirable six-packs and eight pack abs these days. Yet, tireless stomach crunches and sit-ups often don’t get the job done, no matter how disciplined you are about your regimen. The truth is, it can be very difficult to eliminate the layer of fat around the midsection, particularly if you are not genetically blessed in the abdominal region to begin with. However, there is a secret weapon many men have turned to for defined abs and that legendary six pack look.

Abdominal etching, or Ab-etching, is a plastic surgery procedure to reshape and contour the abdominal fat pad to provide patients with a flatter stomach. The procedure selectively removes a small amount of fat around the patient’s natural muscular contours and shapes or sculpts the abdomen to create a more athletic contour. It is a new procedure that uses a special cannula to contour and shape abdominal fat pad to provide patients with a flatter stomach and to provide the look of a 6- or 8-pack abdomen.

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY?

The procedure is suitable for patients who are already in shape and who have between one to two centimeters of “pinchable belly fat”. It is not suitable for patients with larger accumulations of abdominal fat seeking to significantly reduce their belly size or accomplish weight reductions as the amount of fat removed is fairly small. A traditional liposuction is more suitable for those patients.

RECOVERY FROM SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY:

You can go back to your home on the same day of your surgery or may require an overnight stay. Right after the procedure, you will likely to feel moderate to minimal pain in your abdomen area which will be minimized through some medications. You can return to normal activities in 3 to 5 days after your procedure but any heavy exercise or strenuous activity may be restricted for 2-4 weeks. You will be advised to wear a pressure garment for about three months to help quickly minimize the swelling & maintain your new body contour.

PREPARING FOR SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY:

An initial consultation is set-up where we discuss the six-pack abdomen procedure, and whether you are a good candidate for the surgery. Your medical history is reviewed, and you will be asked to see your medical doctor for a physical check-up and a few labs to make sure you can undergo the surgery safely. You are given the opportunity to be seen by your own doctor to give the green light for surgery. You are asked to stop smoking, if you are a smoker, two weeks before and two weeks after surgery, for the surgery to be performed safely, and for you to have optimal results. You are given the opportunity to talk to patients who have had the same surgery you are considering. We will see you shortly after the surgery (in a day or two usually). You are seen regularly after your surgery. You are always welcome to come back for follow-up, even years after your surgery, free of charge.

PROCEDURE FOR SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY :

The procedure is relatively simple and straightforward. A patient, who is deemed a good candidate for this procedure, is given antibiotics, and anesthetized in the operating room. The abdomen is injected with tumescent solution to give some pain relief and decrease the bleeding during surgery. Then small incisions are made around the abdomen and liposuction is performed to accentuate the “ripples” of the abdominal muscles. When sufficient fat is removed, and the appropriate contours are achieved, the incisions are closed and the patient is awakened. A word of caution is that this procedure will create temporary swelling and bruising in the pubic area that resolves in about a week. The results when the healing is complete, which usually takes six months to a year, look very natural and fit.

RISKS OF ABDOMINAL ETCHING/SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY:

Just like any surgery where anesthesia is administered, you always run the risk of side effects and complications. Reduce your risk by moving around and walking gently as soon as you can and as often as you can and by following your plastic surgeon’s instructions carefully. Specific risks include:

  • Reaction to the anesthetic – General anesthesia is more risky than local/regional.
  • Loss of sensitivity on abdominal skin is common and sometimes temporary. Permanent sensation loss could also happen around the belly button or lower abdomen
  • Excessive scarring of the skin or internally where “etching” took place.
  • Post operative infections (usually occur in the first 4-6 weeks).
  • Pulmonary Emboli could occur post surgery (blood clots that travel in the bloodstream and can get to the lungs); Usually happens within the first 72 hours.
  • If you received liposuction alongside abodminal etching, you have to also consider the risks of liposuction.
  • “Dog Ears” are little tags or triangles of skin within the folds where abdominoplasty was performed, after everything has healed.

COST OF SIX PACKS SURGERY –AB ETCHING SURGERY:

As with any surgery, you will pay for local/general anesthesia, the facility fees and the surgeon’s fees. The total cost will start at approximately $3,000 but could go higher if you elect to have additional procedures perfromed at the same time. Your plastic surgeon may use laser liposuction or tumescent liposuction to perform the procedure. In most situations, your plastic surgeon’s office will help you to obtain financing if you cannot afford the cost of abdominal etching on your own.
